Terms of use

These are the ground rules on RentMe – for both renters and hosts. The text below is not legal advice; for a production-grade version we recommend adding a local lawyer, especially for EU/EE law.

1. Who we are and who you are

RentMe is a marketplace. We connect people who want to rent something out (the "Hosts") with people who want to rent ("Renters"). The rental agreement itself is between them directly; RentMe is not a party to the deal.

2. What we do

• Provide a platform for posting listings and searching.
• Collect a service fee (10% of the booking) – that is our commission.
• Help with disputes – a moderator can join the chat between host and renter.
• Verify hosts: phone, email, documents on request.

3. What we do not do

• We do not own the listings. Every item belongs to a host.
• We do not personally inspect every car or apartment – that is the host's responsibility.
• We do not insure the deal (yet). A host may ask for a cash deposit at handover.
• We do not give loans or trade securities.

4. Registration and account

To create an account you must be 18+, have a valid email and accept these terms. One person – one account. You are responsible for everything done from your account; password reset is at /forgot-password.

Business mode is toggled in settings. A business profile is published at rentme.ee/your-company and must show the legal entity name.

5. Payment and commission

• Posting listings is free.
• When booking, the renter pays online only the RentMe service fee – 10% of the booking total.
• The remainder + deposit is handed to the host in cash or by transfer at handover.
• The service fee is non-refundable if the booking is cancelled by the renter. Refunded in full if the host cancels.

6. Cancellation and refund

Every listing has a cancellation policy: flexible (full refund up to 24h), standard (5 days) or strict (14 days). The host picks it on listing creation, and the renter sees it BEFORE paying.

7. Prohibited content

You may not list: weapons, ammunition, drugs, counterfeits, items that require a special licence (without mentioning one), stolen goods, adult services. Violation → account removal without refund.

8. Liability

RentMe is not liable for the quality, safety or legal status of rented items. That is on the host. We do, however, help resolve disputes out of court.

Our maximum liability to a user for any single transaction is capped at the service fee paid on that transaction.

9. Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Estonia. Disputes – Harju County Court (Harju Maakohus). EU consumers keep all rights granted by their local consumer law.

10. Changes

We may change these terms. For material changes we will notify you 30 days in advance by email. The last-updated date is at the top of the page.
